Abstract

The purpose of this project is to investigate how environmental issues interfere in the disputes and in the established hierarchies in everyday life of the agrarian reform settlements'. These elements - disputes and hierarchies - will be analyzed based on subject's access or not to natural resources in the settlement within the borders of his own plot. Using oral history as privileged methodological instrument, the proposal aims to identify in trajectories, experiences, feelings and memories of these settled families the disputes, hierarchies and quotidian practices of management and use of natural resources. To do so, it will be carried out a comparative case study within the settlement Reunidas, the biggest of the state of São Paulo, and it will be researched two Agrovilas, Birigui and Campinas, which are close to natural resources - the first one is close to the water reservoir of Promissão's hydroelectric plant, and the second one have large part of its lots bordering the settlement's environmental reserve.
