Abstract

The Brazilian family has gone through changes and longevity seniors are often living in multigenerational households. At the same time, the presence of Chronic Noncommunicable Diseases, NCDs is increasing among the elderly, leading to greater dependence and need for care. The care is usually performed by a family that also often has more than 60 years. This study aims to compare the overhead, resilience and optimism of elderly caregivers of elderly residing in different family arrangements with or without the presence of children. This is a descriptive and correlational study, cross-sectional, using quantitative research method. All ethical guidelines will be observed. The research will be conducted with elderly caregivers who care for people aged 60 and over who are enrolled in Family Health Units of an interior city. To collect the data will be used Inventory Overflow Zarit Scale, Resilience and Life Orientation Test-TOV-R. Data will be analyzed using descriptive and correlational statistics. (AU)
