Abstract

Due to potential irreversible ophthalmic injuries caused by hyperinsuflation during abdominal laparoscopic procedures, this study aims to determine the possibility of such changes occur in cats in prospective study and randomized. For this, we used 10 cats of both sexes, clinically healthy, weighing 3.5 kg. The animals will be induced to anesthesia with isoflurane via induction's chamber, immediately be intubated and maintained with the same anesthetic agent. Intraocular pressure (IOP) will be measured by tonometry, moreover, will be assessed and recorded values of heart rate and respiratory rate, systolic, mean and diastolic blood pressure, rectal temperature, hydrogen potential in arterial blood (pHa) partial pressure of oxygen in arterial blood (PaO 2), partial pressure of carbon dioxide in arterial blood (PaCO2), arterial oxygen saturation (SaO2), bicarbonate ion (HCO 3), base deficit (DEB). Data will be collected at times: T0 - baseline; T15 - 15 minutes of general anesthesia with the animal in the supine position; (TIS) 5 min after abdominal insufflation, T30 and T60 understand 30 and 60 minutes after TIS, respectively. The results will be tested using the Shapiro-Wilk normality, when normally distributed will be employed analysis of variance (ANOVA) for repeated measures and Bonferroni's complementary analysis and variables with normal distribution are compared with the Wilcoxon test. The Pearson correlation test will be used to correlate the PaCO2, mean arterial pressure and positioning with the PO. The significance level is 5%.
