Abstract

This research intends to help the understanding of business groups' strategies to increase its performance into public basic education system in Brazil. This issue has been investigated by a research group of University of Campinas, and so far its results warn to the consequences of the financial capital presence in public basic education. Considering these warnings, we propose to study the case of Abril Education, characterizing the proceedings in which those groups transform the basic education in market, susceptible to the financial capital volatility. The research will observe institutional information and data relative to this group acting, available in mass media and the São Paulo Stocking Exchange (Bovespa). We assume that this tendency express a global movement in which the field of social rights, guaranteed by public policies - basic education in special, has been transformed in a field of business.
