Abstract

Nanoparticles (NPs) have been widely used as drug carriers, controlling drug solubility and drug circulation time. Additionally, NPs provide drug protection against interferences of external medium, allowing the drug to reach the target tissue in its active form. In this project, gold NPs of several sizes will be synthesized and functionalized with photoactive molecules and signaling peptides. Another type of gold NPs will be functionalized with heparin and collagen in order to be applied in studies on tissue regeneration.
