Abstract

The objective of this research project is the application of constrained direct optimization methods (that is, derivative-free methods), in the area of Predictive and Adaptive Control. The final goal is the application of these methods in predictive control, wherein the computation time is determinant (for instance, in fast plants). Several predictive control methods will be studied and compared, including NMPC and GPC. Constrained direct optimization methods will be studied as well, because there are significant differences between the constrained and unconstrained cases. Simulations will be conducted in MATLAB and will be of great value for the supervisor research. (AU)
