Abstract

This study aims to delineate the attributed meanings to the contemporary phenomenon of individualization based on the experience of university students who choose to live alone. These experiences are going to be confronted with the scientific output that signals as characteristic of the contemporary period the distancing of the Other. Interviews semidirecteds with students who live alone for at least 01(one) year will conduct this research. With the collected data, an interpretative and content analysis will be made in order to compare the data with the indicated academic outputs, inducing a discussion of proximity or distance between these discourses.
