Abstract

The aim of the chemo-mechanical preparation of the root canals is the elimination of vital or necrotic tissue, microorganisms and their products. Irrigation has essential function in this process, and each day has emerged greater interest in researching of new irrigation systems that make this process more efficient. The objective of this research is to evaluate the ability of three protocols irrigation in removing debris from the canal and the isthmus of mesial roots of mandibular molars. Forty five extracted molars will be used, which will be included in blocks of transparent epoxy resin contained in a metallic muffle and so, will be sectioned at 4 and 8 mm from the apex root. After the initial picture of the canal section, they will be reassembled in the muffle and mesial canals will be instrumented with wave one and conventional irrigation with 2.5% sodium hypochlorite. After instrumentation, a new picture will be captured, and so, the teeth will be divided into 3 groups according to the type of the agitation of the irrigant: group 1- endoactivator, group 2- Passive Ultrasonic Irrigation (PUI) and group 3- easy clean, performing three activations of 20 seconds each with 2.5% sodium hypochlorite and then with 17% EDTA. This procedure will be repeated two more times. A total of 5 analyses will be made through the stereomicroscope and 5 with scanning electron microscope: before instrumentation, after instrumentation and after the 1st, 2nd and 3rd agitation protocol of irrigating solution. The normality of the data will be verified by the Shapiro-Wilk tests. In case of normality of the data, the ANOVA and Tukey test will be used to comparison the groups, if the data have not normal distribution, the KrusKal-Wallis and Dunn tests will be utilized. The significance level will be 5%. (AU)
