Abstract

Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) is a biomaterial based on calcium silicate and the addition of propyleneglycol is suggested to increase its consistency. Biodentine is developed as a replacement for cement MTA. The aim of this study is to evaluate the setting time, the flow, the viability and bioactivity of materials: White MTA-Angelus (MTA) / water, MTA / 80% water and 20% propylene glycol, and Biodentine. The test flow is based on the ISO 6876 standard, and the setting time will be assessed using Gilmore needle. Cell viability is assessed by the MTT assay performed 24 hours after contact between cement eluted with cells. The bioactivity is analyzed by alkaline phosphatase activity after 24, 72 hours and 7 days of exposure of the material. Mineralization nodules will be assessed by alizarin red method after 21 days of exposure of the material in osteogenic medium. The data will be statistically analyzed by ANOVA and Tukey test, with significance level of 5%.
