Abstract

Tomato are fruits that have different types of tissues that play a critical role in the perception of texture, in addition to possessing bioactive compounds of great importance for human health. VFNT elite cultivar, resistant to multiple pathogens recovered in an F2 pedigree promising, is being enhanced to produce a new cultivar, which is the subject of this work. Parameters as the chemical composition and antioxidant activity, in order to support breeders introduce improvements in the quality of the fruits of this cultivar will be evaluated. This work is very important because the fruits of this cultivar have not been fully characterized and the group of breeders intend to distribute the seeds for cultivation by farmers at no cost, in a short time. Another merit of the work that should be mentioned is that tomatoes this cultivar obtained by breeding, will be more acceptable to the consuming public , since no transgenic for acquiring the characteristics obtained . Therefore, studies on the chemical composition and antioxidant capacity will be of great importance, since there is an appeal to human health from the consumption of this Solanaceae, given that it has a great acceptance worldwide. Once in possession of the bioactive characterization and antioxidant potential of fruit, this will also be used for the dissemination of farming in the form of seed distribution without cost to producers. It is expected that this population can acquire a distinctive tomato high nutritional value and low cost, thus demonstrating the relevance and social contribution project.
