Abstract

In this project I intend to investigate ultra-cold Fermi gases. This is an interesting system with the the remarkable property of having an adjustable interparticle strength due to Feshbach resonances. This fact makes possible to study these atomic gases over many length scales from weak to intermediate to strong coupling. Moreover this is the opportunity to establish a collaboration with Dr. Murray Holland from JILA, University of Colorado/NIST in the investigation of strongly correlated superfluids. Together with the scientific gains, another consequence of this project is possibly the creation of conditions for graduate students spend some time during their courses and also facilitate post-doctoral stages in an institution with a long tradition in research.
