Abstract

In a chaotic and hedonistic world in which relationships are determined by disposability, mobility and speed, the virtual front appears as a solution to the lack of sense of reality. The era of software and individuality proposes overcoming geographical and temporal barriers providing new forms of socialization. Electronic games emerge as catharsis of postmodern society and its main features to escape, freedom and fulfillment of desires seen as impossible in reality. Many of these games provide the individual the opportunity to act in a world without rules, inverse values, where the virtual hero of questionable morals, acquires, in most cases, the oppressive personality. Considering the few studies relating to electronic games and the moral necessity of new studies about human morality in the current context of crisis values of contemporary society, this research aims to provide a reflection on the moral issues involved in electronic games in contemporaneity, having as methodological contribution the virtual ethnographyand theoretical studies of Jean Piaget (1932) on the development of moral judgment, as well as the research of Lawrence Kohlberg on the construction of moral reasoning and the contributions of La Taille in the field the psychology of human morality. We hope to contribute in some measure, to the debate about the construction of moral values in contemporary (AU)
