Abstract

Some people have changes in the swallowing process, the result of inefficiency of the food transportation by oropharyngeal transit, called oropharyngeal dysphagia. One of the parameters used as clinical signs of penetration and tracheal aspiration or in oropharyngeal dysphagia is the alteration of the vocal quality, described as "wet voice", related to secretion and / or saliva on the vocal folds. Considering that changes observed during the evaluation, associated with wet voice are linked to an increased risk of aspiration, the goal of this research is to verify the frequency (occurrence) of these changes in vocal quality dysphagic individuals. Participate in this study 50 adult patients with neurogenic oropharyngeal dysphagia, independent of gender and neurological disease, which are met in the specialized laboratory in Oropharyngeal dysphagia. Will be held clinical evaluation, applying the specific protocol for evaluation of oropharyngeal swallowing, which will include the evaluation of oral communication, indirect evaluation of swallowing by clinical observation, direct evaluation of swallowing by observing the dynamics of swallowing with liquid and paste consistency. Concomitantly with the clinical evaluation of swallowing, recording the voices of patients for further analysis of the acoustic signal will be held in the Multi Dimensional Voice Program program - MDVP the Keystone Pentax and perceptual evaluation by 3 speech therapists with experience in voice assessment using the GRBAS Scale.
