Abstract

Purposes: to describe children's orthographic performance in what concerns occlusive phonemes registration in Brazilian Portuguese; to verify if stress can influence the occurrence of potential spelling errors in these phonemes; and to classify the standard of these potential errors' distribution. Methods: we will analyze orthographic registration of occlusive phonemes extracted from textual production of 76 children referring to 14 thematic proposals, collected in 2011, while children attended Year 1 of Elementary School in two different public schools from the same city in São Paulo State. For data analysis: regarding the first purpose, we will categorize in hits and errors; concerning the second purpose, potential errors will be classified according to occurrence in stressed syllables and unstressed syllables; lastly, as to the third objective, errors will be sub classified in orthographic omission, non-phonological spelling errors and phonological spelling errors. Phonological spelling errors will be further divided in accordance with occurrence inside and outside of occlusive phonemes class. Finally, phonological spelling errors inside the class will be analyzed according to distinctive features. (AU)
