Abstract

Currently, Brazil hold an important position in food production, mainly the ones from animals. In the food industry, several roles are assigned to veterinarian, aiming to ensure the public health. Considering the increased of food demand by world's population, likewise, the demand for veterinarians in food-supply have accompanied this growth. Institutions of Higher Education (IHE) must prepare students for this growing market, meeting the industries needs on the desired professional profile. Thus, the aim of this study is to analyze the academic and professional profile of the veterinarian to act in the inspection area and animal's products technology. Therefore, is going to be analyzed the curriculum matrices of Veterinary Medicine of São Paulo public courses through desk research and identification of students' knowledge of the area, with the development and application of individual questionnaires. The expectation is to provide information to competent authorities, the area of education and professional council for possible restructuring of education in such manner that allows the egress knowledge of professional performance in inspection and technology of animal's products as well as outline the veterinarian professional profile desired by food industry.
