Abstract

Through this research we developed a study about the musical interaction on a context of contemporary improvisation, watching performatic behaviors that are based in the freedom of the act and in the assumption of the collaborative creation. The practical experimentations required for the development of this research were formulated primarily in the Orquestra Errante (Wandering Orchestra), an experimental group of musical improvisation linked to the Music Department of the School of Communications and Arts of the University of São Paulo. In this orchestra, at each meeting, the students and researchers are able to develop proposals which dialogues with their respective research on improvisation. In addition, other experiments of the researcher on different groups were combined aiming to exemplify other possibilities of interaction. Regarding the theoretical framework that supports this research, we aimed to activate the wider perspectives about performance, freedom and interaction in arts, as well as more specific thoughts about creating strategies and recurrent interaction on the performing arts that uses improvisation such as the clowning activity. Based on an analysis of these various improvisation platforms on which the performances happen, and seeking to detail the exchange processes and affection among the participants, we reflect about the interplay between the musicians involved in the musical improvisation.
