Stress distribuition, adaptation and compressive strength of monolithic crowns after thermomechanical loading in different materials

Abstract

The resin nano ceramic (Rn) is a new class of dental material that has similar indications to the lithium disilicate glass ceramic (Ds), promising higher reliability than the latter. The aim of this study is to evaluate the stress distribution, marginal and internal adaptation, and compressive strength of monolithic crowns after thermomechanical cyclic loading in these two materials. The tension in these restorative materials will be evaluated by the three-dimensional finite element method by observing the stress distribution and location of maximum principal stress. To the in vitro test, first molars crowns will be made of Rn and Ds by CAD/CAM method (n=40). The marginal and internal adaptation will be measured by microtomography before and after cementation of crowns on a abutment morse taper screwed on an analog of implant. In sequence, the crowns of each material will be divided into 2 groups: control (Rn1 and Ds1, without loading) and experimental (Rn2 and Ds2, loading). After 10.000 thermal cycling (5°C - 55°C) and 400.000 mechanical cycles with sliding (F=70N), the crowns will be submitted to the compressive strength test conducted on a universal testing machine at a constant load speed of 1 mm/min until occurrence of fracture. It is presumed the use of ANOVA test with significance level of 5% for statistical analysis. (AU)
