Abstract

This work proposes the discussion of Brazilian foreign policy in latest United Nations conferences on Environment and Development, based on the relevance of this theme for international relations and the role played by Brazil in international environmental governance. The Brazil's performance will be studied separed in each of the Conferences of 1992, 2002 and 2012, to construct an analysis of the foreign policy in this period. This search aims study the focus given to theme by Brazil, its treatment of the issue and the international integration of the country in these conferences. To understand the above question there will be a literature on the environmental debate at the international level, on international governance environmental, on the performance of Brazil in the conferences and the foreign policy of the country. Furthermore, will be analyzed official documents of the Conference and the preparatory meetings, and the Brazilian government, for each of the three Conferences, to a better understanding of a still recent debate on the international stage.
