Abstract

Introduction: The electroacoustic test recommended to assist audiologists in the selection, verification and adaptation of Frequency Modulation (FM) Systems in users of hearing aids measures the transparency between the two devices. These electroacoustic measures are not feasible with cochlear implants (CI), because there is no standard method available to measure the electrical output of the sound processor of the cochlear implant. At the same time, the use of a electroacoustic verification protocol of FM System in CI is essential for device settings can be performed to provide an ideal listening situation. Objective: Conduct a verification protocol for testing electroacoustic FM systems coupled to three different CI processors sounds and determine the validity of the protocol by means of measures of behavioral performance of participants. Methods: The electroacoustic verification protocol will be accomplished through the use of equipment Audioscan Verifit (VF-1) with HA-1 coupler, and the use of the check corresponding to each sound processor CI listening device. To evaluate the perception of speech in noise, the procedure will be performed applying the Brazilian version of the Hearing in Noise Test (HINT), free field in two moments: before the measurements of electroacoustic protocol and after measurements and adjustment gain of the FM system.
