Abstract

This research project aims to discuss the role of tourism in the reorganization of the space in São Luiz do Paraitinga, using as an object of study its "Carnaval de Marchinhas". Justified this work due to the concern caused by the sense of loss of tourist atractiveness that the local intangible cultural heritage means to São Luiz do Paraitinga after the flood of the Rio Paraitinga in 2010. The main objective is to understand the main impacts and transformations generated by this hydrological and climatic phenomenon in the celebration and organization of the Carnival of São Luiz do Paraitinga, considering its restructuring, from a study of an exploratory case with a qualitative approach, using the deductive method, from library, archival and field research. One hopes that the results will assist in improving the organization and restructuring of the Carnival of São Luiz do Paraitinga and the indigenous population's quality of life, since it is the most responsible for the strength and survival of this popular festival.
