Abstract

Obesity has increased at an alarming proportion, being considered a public health problem. Furthermore, obesity has been associated to oral conditions, such as tooth wear. The aim of this study is to identify the prevalence of dental wear and salivary flow in obese and eutrophic patients. The sample will be composed of two groups: the experimental group (EG), with 30 obese subjects, and the control group (CG), with 30 eutrophic subjects. The socioeconomic status will be performed by the data collection of medical records. The anthropometric assessment will be through BMI and waist circumference. Tooth wear will be assessed by Dental Wear Index (DWI). The salivary flow will be evaluated by collecting the stimulated saliva. After data collection, it will be scanned and statistically tested according to the result of the data normality test.
