Abstract

This research proposes an analysis of child and adolescents protection laws in Brazil and Portugal, in the period from the last two decades of the 20th century until the present time. This investigation will be accomplished according to the Institutional Analysis of role, which will consist in a review thus of the documental literature, including laws and official texts referring to children and youngsters in both countries as the review of the academic literature, through theses, dissertations, books and scientific articles which approaches to the researching theme. Studying such documents and bibliographies of these two countries, we intend to verify the possible similarities and possible specificities of each of them, on the issue of social policies for children and adolescents. We pretend to appropriate ourselves on this theme inside a problematizing path, in order to, at the end, it would be possible to do a comparative and critic analysis of these two models of attention and institutional care with children and adolescents. For the Psychology field this research will be useful to collaborate with the growth of knowledge in the Social Psychology field, which has been counting on an expressive increase of psychological professionals. The results found afterwards could contribute to make the professional acting of psychologists who work with children and youngsters in Brazilian and Portuguese assistance establishments more warned and critic.
