Abstract

The anxiety of musical performance (APM) is understood as a subtype of social anxiety disorder and is characterized by the presence of fears related to musical performance which generally entail losses in their professional lives. There is a variation of range of symptoms between normal stress of feeling the profession the symptoms of more serious and harmful anxiety, including panic sensations next. The literature suggests that the etiology of APM involves both physiological and psychological aspects. Other aspects such as APM causes perceived by musicians, coping strategies and cultural variables seem important to build a detailed picture of APM. This project's main objective is to describe the clinical profile and aspects related to prevalence, perceived causes and Musical Performance Anxiety coping strategies (APM) in a sample of Brazilian musicians amateurs and professionals and compare with a sample of orchestral professional musicians Australians. For this, self-assessment tools will be used a sample of 100 musicians (amateur and professional) and 377 Brazilian musicians (professional) Australians. The data will be analyzed by direct statistical program, depending on the presence / absence of social anxiety and sociodemographic variables and specific professional. It will adopt the significance level p <0.05.
