Effects on sleep quality in young practitioners of resistance exercise under night supplementation administration

Abstract

Nowadays gyms became the target of several populations, aims to improve performance, health, aesthetics; Youth and adults began to attend gyms in higher instance at night, it is the only available time they find in their routine. To attend the gym at night, they administer supplements in the same period, sometimes minutes before going to bed. The sleep quality is a factor that directly influence the exercise, thus, the proper supplementation performed at night is a factor to be studied with these variables. The general objective of this research is to analyze and compare the effects on sleep quality in young practitioners of resistance exercise under nocturnal supplement administration, which involves the following supplements: Whey Protein, BCAA, Creatine and Recovery Drinks. The experimental sample will be 50 youngs aged between 17 and 28 years, regular exercise practioners in the gym for over 2 months and manage the supplement from 18:00. Participants will be divided into 5 groups, which supplement with whey protein, BCAA, Creatine, Recovery Drinks and CTRL. To develop this research participants will be evaluated through questionnaires: Sleep Diary, Pittsburgh Scale, Horne & Ostberg Questionnaire, Epworth Scale and food diary; Data collection will have two phases according to the time required in each questionnaire.
