Abstract

This research aims to shed an initial light over an important puzzle in Brazilian politics: why the recent decline in Brazilian levels of electoral volatility had not lead to an increase in the reelection rates among federal representatives? The research will undertake a descriptive analysis in a way to widen the previous work done by Marenco dos Santos (2001 and 2006), which focused on the party affiliation history of representatives and the electoral competition in their respective states.
