Abstract

Technology development with respect to micro/nanometrical structurally ordered synthesis and characterization granted the branching of surface modification processes and provided a new set of interesting properties to an old set of materials, as in the case of conventional planar electrodes and silicon wafers. Several papers emerged enumerating the benefits of the association of defined-geometry structures, some of which deserve to be mentioned as the case of rods, spheres, cubes, prisms, rings and dendrites for the utmost diverse thermo, optical and electronic dependant fields of materials technology, as is the noble case of Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS), (bio) sensor arrays and platform production aiming for catalytic performance. In this very context, an opportunity crops out in order to promote a study on the electrochemistry application into controlled synthetic processes of morphologically well-defined structures, willing to add up all the characteristics of versatility, low cost, production speed and easiness, reproducibility and practical performance towards the intended substrate design with the usage of carbon nanostructures (specially reduced graphene oxide), noble metals as silver, gold and platinum and secondary agents as conductive polymers. Platform employment in spectroscopy and (bio)sensing ought to father new insights on the structure-property relationship and enable similar natured procedures to be created clearly. (AU)
