Influence of irradiation with ER-YAG super short pulse in the formation of the hybrid layer in affected dentin

Abstract

The new approach to the treatment of dental caries in a clinically relevant features substrate - the dentine affected by caries, that is demineralized, but being capable of remineralization, should be maintained in the floor cavity. Often, the adhesion is performed on this tissue, which has different characteristics of healthy female dentin and consequently the hybrid layer formed with it will be different. It is noteworthy that the current adhesive systems were not developed, at first, to hybridize to the affected dentin. So, two possibilities can be considered: developing specific materials to adhere to the affected dentin or change it in some way, that adherence to the affected dentin is efficient. To investigate the potential of laser technology in this respect, it seems an important task. Thus, studies that investigate in depth the characteristics that assume different tissues when irradiated with Er: YAG can provide subsidies that explain the controversial adhesion results in the literature. Thus, six experimental groups (n = 6), according to the variation factors: substrate (otherwise healthy and affected by decay, obtained artificially) and surface treatment (without laser - control; irradiation protocols 80mJ / 2 Hz / 50¼s and 200mJ / 20Hz / 50¼s) will be analyzed. The specimens will be analyzed in its clinical features, by visual inspection; Fluorescence data; reflectivity for optical coherence tomography; and chemical and structural information by micro-Raman spectroscopy. The results will be described in detail, comparing the effects of irradiation on the different substrates.
