Abstract

This Project aims to carry out a teacher research fellowship with six months duration (first semester of 2016) in Université Paris 3, linked to the Centre de Recherches sur les Pays Lusophones (CREPAL - Professor Jacqueline Penjon), in partnership with the Institut de Recherche en Etudes Théâtrales (IRET - Professor Myriam Tanant). This work involves Brazilian Culture, in its dialogue with French Culture (to be discussed in CREPAL) and Theater history and theory. The result will be an essay on the XIX century French operetta (opéra-bouffe or opérette) in order to accomplish a farther investigation about Brazilian similar genders, discussing how they assembled the Brazilian culture, and including Brazilian original operettas and its importance for Theater history. The fellowship aims to research the operetta in it country of origin, during the period of its outbreak, based on a corpus of selected plays which were adapted for Brazilian culture and staged here between the years of 1875 and 1885. The research will be discussed with the professors that will receive me for the fellowship as well as in the colloquiums, seminary, and study journeys of CREPAL and IRET, extending the discussion about the work with other professors and researchers. This project has also the aim, not less important, of developing research and teaching partnerships between Arts Institute of Unicamp and the French Research Centers, in order to increase the internationalization process of the Institute.
