Abstract

It is intended to contribute to the development of a new technique to introduce the effects of reinforcements in the matrix finite element mesh of composite materials, considering the adherence behavior. This technique consists of the creation and introduction of three types of finite elements in an existing mesh: reinforcing, interface, and compatibilization elements. The compatibilization elements have the unique function of matching the nodal displacements of reinforcing elements with the internal points of solid elements of the matrix, allowing arbitrary positioning of the reinforcement, independent of the matrix finite element mesh. The aim is to validate the technique through modeling of several problems of concrete members, using a computational program developed by the research group to introduce the special reinforcement elements in the basic numeric model, previously constructed in a conventional way, only with the matrix solid finite elements.
