Abstract

Introduction: The improvement of adhesive systems and resin cements used for cementation of ceramic veneers make possible the use of thin ceramics restorations on enamel surfaces with minimal or no tooth preparation (no prep). However, the influence of no prep condition on the health of periodontal structures is unknown. Objectives: Evaluate the behavior of periodontal tissue by quantification of biomarkers and the gingival crevicular fluid volume (GCF), with additional verification of adaptation and marginal behavior of the restoration, the use of thin ceramic veneers cemented on no prep teeth, with the finish line gently positioned within the gingival sulcus. Materials and Methods: 72 ceramic veneers in pressed lithium disilicate with thickness of 0.2 mm in the finish line, will be cemented on no prep maxillary anterior teeth. All treated elements will be submitted to GCF collection prior cementation (baseline) and at times (t): (t(0) - 7 days, t(1) - 15 days, t(2) - 30 days, t(3) - 60 days, t(4) - 180 days and t(5) - 365 days after baseline). It'll be calculated the volume of GCF and quantified the biomarkers: TNF-± (tumor necrosis factor alfa), IL-1² (interleukin 1 beta), MMP-8 (collagenase) and MMP-9 (gelatinase) by ELISA. Homologous or neighbor tooth will be used as the control. Resides, replicas of cervical area will be made with epoxy resin at 7, 30, 180 and 365 days after cementation to verify the marginal adaptation and overcontour in the scanning electron microscope. Will be held clinical evaluation by modified USPHS criteria (United States Public Health Service) at all times of the study. Results: After the descriptive analysis of the data, it will be verified the presuppositions of normality and homogeneity, considering the application of ANOVA. If the presuppositions not being addressed, provision will be made using the Kruskal-Wallis test. The significance level for difference between means will be 5%. (AU)
