Abstract Since its first edition, the "Padrões de Interação Executivo-Legislativo" organizes and updates data on the Brazilian political system. Given the complexity involved in understanding the Brazilian political institutions, project development has been accompanied by the opening of an analysis sublevels that integrate a systemic perspective of acquisition of knowledge. From this perspective, the project currently houses four large research groups, namely: Brazilian legislative output, the Union budget, parliamentary career and roll call votes. The organization of these data is undoubtedly one of the greatest contributions of the thematic project and has collaborated in a systematic way - by opening new areas of research and theoretical and methodological training of new researchers - with the production of accurate diagnoses of institutions operating democracy in Brazil. However, in addition to the efforts made in the analysis of the Brazilian case, the thematic project has also faced the challenge of producing nature of investigations compared. The need to frame the Brazilian case in a broader and diverse analytical context has led to the strengthening of comparative studies. In this perspective, this project seeks to consolidate research fronts compared, and promote the development of new analytical tools that allow scrutiny of existing democratic institutions in different systems of government and its outcomes. | |
