Abstract

Coastal erosion has many causes, natural or anthropogenic, or from combinations of both effects. Its impacts translate into socio-economic and environmental damage of great magnitude. Recently, several methodologies for the study of vulnerability to coastal erosion have been developed and applied. The study area for this application is in Guaruja, State of São Paulo coast, where vulnerability five beaches will be evaluated. The approached quantitative method takes into account mainly the hydrodynamic and sedimentological processes that contribute to the evolution of the beach. We hope, with this study, contribute to the knowledge of the morphodynamics of the area and provide support for different actions of coastal management.
