Abstract

Lamellar double hydroxides (LDH) or hydrotalcites are anionic clays containing carbonate anions intercalated between double hydroxides of magnesium and aluminum lamellae. With the calcination of the hydrotalcite and the subsequent release of CO2, there is the formation of amorphous metal oxides, which have nanoscale pores and can act as catalysts in transesterification reactions because of their Lewis acid-base properties. Thus, the aim of this project is to study the synthesis of mixed oxides doped with high valence metal ions such as W6 + and Ti4 + and how it will influence the activity of the catalyst. Therefore, the synthesis of hydrotalcite will be carried on by co-precipitation followed by its calcination to form their respective oxides. In this context, we seek to improve a technically satisfactory process in terms of high catalytic activity, stability to elements leaching from the solid and high surface area.
