Abstract

This jointly supervised doctoral thesis establishes the collaboration between Université Laval (Quebec- Canada) and FCAV-Unesp (São Paulo- Brazil). The request for a BEPE fellowship aims to meet the schedule presented to FAPESP for the doctoral fellowship project nº 2014/25075-6. The general aim of this project is to compare optimal threonine: lysine amino acid ratio between conventional group phase-feeding and individual precision feeding systems. During the internship will be finalized the analysis of amino acid composition in the blood, liver, carcass, longissimus dorsi and intestine of the pigs in the trials performed for finishing and growing phase testing two feeding programs and 5 threonine levels (project nº 2014/25075-6). The samples will be deproteineized and analyzed by gas chromatography (GC-MS). The obtained results will be analyzed statistically and a literature review will be performed to understand the results and to propose a new method to estimate amino acid requirements for individuals. The final outcome of this research will help us to understand the variation between individual pigs, especially with regard to AA response. Also, it will lead our future studies to quantify AA requirements for individual pigs, showing a potential difference between requirement estimations for a phase program and individual phase feeding programs.
