Abstract

Pragmatics is a linguistic ability related to language functioning in specific communication contexts. There is an association between pragmatics, interactivity and language which leads to effective communication in different situations. Therefore, pragmatic assessment is highly important to the language diagnosis. The Test of Pragmatic Skills assesses the pragmatic abilities of children between three and eight years of age. It considers their communicative intent and communication abilities in a playful environment using specific materials that allow the observation of ten behavioral signs of communicative intent. Purpose: to assess the pragmatic abilities of children from seven to eight years in order to determine Brazilian parameters for the Test of Pragmatic Skills (Shullman). Methos: Participants will be 20 children with ages from 7 to 7:11 years and 20 children with ages from 8 to 8:11 years of a public school of Elementary School.
