Abstract

The proposal seeks to evaluate the mechanical properties of coarse aggregates marketed in the city of São Paulo and their influences the mechanical behavior of concrete. Will be developed a method for obtaining the compressive strength, elastic modulus and fracture energy of the aggregate particles. The method will be developed by using reference materials and comparison with results of tests known in the literature (instrumented indentation and fracture energy measured by impact). The aggregates analyzed will undergo separation by density and for each density range, the mechanical properties will be determined by the proposed method. Concrete with aggregates with lower resistance will be made, varying the proportions of less resistant aggregates in the formulation of concrete, in order to assess the influence on the mechanical behavior of the concretes.
