Abstract

The electrospinning is a manufacturing fibers method from polymeric solutions and have various applications in the medical and pharmaceutical fields. In this context, many studies evaluate the electrospinning of chitosan, a biopolymer in combination with other substances such as natural extracts and nanohydroxyapatite (nHAp). This study aims to evaluate the influence of electrospinning process parameters on the chitosan nanofibers beads formation associated or to essential oil of Thymus vulgaris and nHAp. For this, three different solutions it will be prepared: a pure chitosan solution (7% w/v), 0.7g ofchitosandissolvedin 7ml of trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) and 0.3 ml Dichloromethane (DCM); chitosan solution with nHAp inclusion, after chitosan, 0.05g of nHApdispersed; and a solution with Thymus vulgaris inclusion, after chitosan, 0.05g of thyme essential will be dispersed. After that, electrospunnanofiber scaffolds will be made under different parameters such as flow rate, distance from the capillary to the collector and electric tension. The specimens obtained it will be characterized according to the Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) images and ImageJ analysis.
