Abstract

This research project at masters level, focuses on the study of new forms of consumption, taking as reference the joints between the upper and lower circuit of the urban economy (Santos, 2008), in order to assess the as such relations redefine the spatial practices of consumers in medium-sized cities. The empirical basis for project development are the cities of Presidente Prudente (SP) and Londrina (PR), to realize a comparative study of these two medium-sized cities. In the proposed study, the focus is on the trade area, which we call as popular, which is organized spatially, as camelódromo and are located in the main center of the cities in question. The goals are tied to the understanding of the relationship between urban restructuring (concept of SOJA, 1993 is regards the changing roles of cities in interurban division of labor) and restructuring of the city (changes in logical location of economic and social uses of space urban) (SPOSITO, 2007).
