This study aims to evaluate the effect of different irradiation parameters with the Er: YAG laser on the morphology, surface roughness, loss of volume of the material and adhesive interface bond strength formed by the irradiated zirconia and luting cement system. Blocks of pre-sintered Y-TZP will be cut providing 140 standard samples which will be divided by surface treatment as follows (n=20): G1 untreated (control); G2 (tribochemical silica coating unsintered); G3 (tribochemical silica coating sintered); G4 (80mJ/2Hz/50¼s); G5 (80mJ/2Hz/100¼s); G6 (80mJ/2Hz/300¼s); G7 (80mJ/2Hz/600¼s). After treated or not, samples will be sintered according to the manufacturer's recommendations. The specimens will be evaluated by different methods, namely: evaluation of the bond strength by microshear test (¼SBS) (n=8); surface roughness and volume loss using a 3D optical profilometer; morphological analysis by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) (n=3) and evaluation of phase transformation of zirconia, by X-ray diffractometry (XRD) (n=1). The experiment of microshear will be mounted using resin cement (Panavia F 2.0, Kuraray, Okayama, Japan). These specimens will be analyzed after 24 hours and after aging. So we intend to evaluate the influence of different irradiation parameters on morphological, crystalline aspects and their interaction with the resin cement. Quantitative data obtained will be analyzed statistically (p <0.05) and qualitative will be described in comparison.
