Abstract

This project aims to deepen the research on the involvement of anarchists in São Paulo modern schools, whereas educational practice was an element that united different currents of anarchists. Understanding the influence of strategic differences especially in organisationalist field between syndicalism revolutionary and anarcho-syndicalism is essential for a rigorous analysis of the defined period, between 1909 and 1919. In this way, we will establish an overview of the relationship between the supporters of each strategy, based on the findings presented by researchers which state the dominance of revolutionary syndicalism in the case of Brazil. The approach of these authors offer an important theoretical benefit to understand the role of Florentino de Carvalho (1889-1947), João Penteado (1876-1965) and Adelino de Pinho (1885-?) who were at the forefront of Escolas Modernas # 1 and # 2. Florentino de Carvalho moves away from the group later to found the Escola Nova, which for some authors suggests a dissonance in the group, and will be the subject of our research, from the hypothesis that dissonance reflected a strategic divergence in the group of militants forward modern schools. The study will be based on the analysis of books, papers and articles published in the period, as well as resolutions of workers' organizations such as the Confederação Operária Brasileira (COB) and documents of João Penteado acquis.
