Abstract

The consumer behavior study is an important area to understand which the expectations generated in relation to products and currently, cosmetics feature is highlighted in trade, not only in Brazil but worldwide. More than simply use, consumers have sought to express their individuality across their social environment. The last few years have been marked by a woman's replacement in the labor market, and the growth of struggles for equal rights between genders. In the face of women's achievements, man ended up losing the maximum function of family provider and began a process of transformation of the social persona and intimity, having felt the need to express their individuality by varied way, regardless of their sexual orientation. In addition to marketing, social and cultural knowledge it is necessary to understand that the skins of both genders behave differently, and one of the major skin problems that affect men is acne (disease of the pilosebaceous follicles), may be accompanied by P. acnes infection. Some essential oils (complex volatile obtained mixtures and secreting plant parts) have bactericidal and anti-inflammatory actions scientifically proven. Such oils may be obtained from industrial waste and byproducts, adding environmental value to the finished product. Clinical research with advanced techniques such as the use of confocal microscopy can assist in more detailed characterization on changes in skin architecture in this skin disorder and provide data on how essential oils can help correct it. Combining the research and development knowledge of cosmetic products to market knowledge and clinical studies of skin characterization becomes a necessary option for the determination of alternative therapies for more aggressive treatments such as the use of tretinoin.
