Abstract

Quantifying and comparing the protein profile between healthy and diseased organisms can reveal potentially causing molecular mechanisms of disease. Techniques for identification and quantification of proteins in biological tissues such as mass spectrometry have evolved rapidly and therefore has been produced datasets increasingly larger and more complex. The main objective of the project e'develop and apply proteomic analysis tools in animal models of tissue and surgical material obtained from patients with epilepsy. Specifically we aim to: i) conduct comparative analysis of protein expression to identify and annotate proteins whose expression is altered in affected individuals compared to healthy subjects; ii) provide publicly tools developed during the project execution, through open initiatives such as Biocondutor Project.
