Resilience in adults and elderly with chronic kidney disease in hemodialysis: the associated factors identification

Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is considered a serious public health problem, with prevalence and increasing incidence. The available treatments for CKD partially replace kidney function, relieving the symptoms and preserving the patient's life. Currently, the most widely used is hemodialysis, which consists of an extracorporeal filtration process and purification of the blood of undesirable substances that must be eliminated from the bloodstream. Before the diagnosis and treatment of an incurable disease, individuals with CKD are seen limited physically and emotionally. Therefore, this study aims to assess the level of resilience and identify associated factors in adults and elderly chronic renal hemodialysis of the Renal Replacement Therapy Unit of São Carlos, located in the state of São Paulo. This is a correlational research, cross-sectional and quantitative approach, which will be applied individually in a private room that service through the following instruments: Participants Characterization Questionnaire, Resilience Scale, Cognitive Abilities Screening Instrument - Short Form Questionnaire on the Health of Patient Satisfaction with Life Scale, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, Herth Hope Scale, Medical Outcomes Study, and Pinto Spirituality Scale and Pais-Ribeiro. The project will be submitted to the Ethics Committee of the UFSCar and will run after the approval of the Committee. (AU)
