Abstract

Before the rapidly growth of the number of people affected by non communicable diseases in Brazil and in the world, the offering of preventive actions in health of Basic Care become a convenient option to the population with the intention of promoting a healthier ageing throughout life. Therefore, the participation in these actions can have a positive economic impact to the users and to the public health system. In this context, the aims of this study if to evaluate the relation between the participation of the users in preventive actions offered in the health's Basic Care of the municipality of São Carlos, SP, and the use of these services, having as a possible consequence and hypothesis the decrease of expenditure with tertiary care's health. This is a research of transversal and retrospective character and of documental analysis, which will identify the preventive actions in all health unities of the municipality and will analyze medical records and hospital records of the participants in the actions, aiming to verify how they utilized the health network in the tertiary level, compared to those who did not participate. It will be analyzed the number of assistances, reason for use of the service, number of hospitalization and number of days hospitalized. The project will follow all the ethical aspects of research. It will be performed descriptive and intergroup comparison analysis through the statistical package Software Statistical Package for the social Science (SPSS). It is expected that individual who took part in preventive actions have utilized less health services in the tertiary level, what possibly decreased the costs for the service and for the user. (AU)
