Abstract

There are experimental evidences of self-organizing criticality in many natural systems, including certain regions of the human brain. The main objective of this project is the mathematical modeling of neuronal systems, such as the human cortex. We intend to study the dynamical properties of neuronal network models, focusing on the inuence of network topology and synaptic plasticity particularly on occurrence of self-organizing criticality. This internship project ts within the goals of her main post-doctoral research project, contributing to a better comprehension of network topological conditions that may lead to brain (cortex) self-organization to criticality.
