Abstract

We propose a 1-year project for the fabrication and characterisation of semiconductor lasers employing wavelength selective of coupled microring resonators as mirrors on a heterogeneously integrated InP (InGaAsP)/SOI platform in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Ir. Gunther Roelkens (University of Ghent, Belgium). All Si waveguides and optical cavities will be fabricated at IMEC (Belgium) with 400nm SOI wafers, 180nm etched rib-waveguides by standard 193 nm lithography and post-processed by us at Photonics Research Group at Ghent University. Post-processing consists on adhesive bonding InP (InGaAsP quantum well active region) stacks with spin-coating thickness-controlled diluted DVS-BCB on the top of SOI waveguides and lithographic patterning of the III-V. Dr. Roelkens is a pioneer in this technique with over a decade of experience on heterogeneous III-V on Si integration.
