Hypotension is a frequent occurrence among multiple organ donors, most of whom are trauma victims with consequent hemorrhagic shock. The lungs are highly vulnerable to hemorrhagic shock, which impairs the perfusion of tissues and increases the inflammatory response. Mesenchymal stem cells are characterized by their ability to suppress the inflammation and immune responses that are mediated by paracrine secretions of anti-inflammatory and immunoregulatory factors. In an attempt to increase the supply of lungs for transplantation, our hypothesis is based on the use of mesenchymal stem cell to treat lungs after hemorragic shock model. The lungs undergoing to infusion of stem cells will be compared with a control group that will not be subjected to shock neither to the infusion of cells. Therefore, the lung tissue will be prepared for histopathologic evaluation (HE). The protocol in question will be carried out in accordance with the rules of the Ethics Committee and will take place in Cardiopneumology Laboratory at Instituto do Coração da FMUSP under the guidance of Prof. Dr Paulo Manuel Pego-Fernandes.
