Study of experimental models of lung donors for transplantation

Abstract

Experimental models are important tools to understanding physiological and etiopathogenic issues. Some types of animal are used as experimental models to study elements involved in the pathophysiology of primary graft dysfunction after lung transplantation and to evaluate new treatments. Currently, we can divided experimental model of lung donors into two large groups: donation-after brain death donors and donation after circulatory death donors. In addition, the deleterious effects of hemorrhagic shock and Ischemia and Reperfusion should be considered when we think of donors models. In this study we aim to describe and compare inflammation and histopathologic disturbs related with four types of lung donors study models: Donation after Brain Death; Donation after Circulatory Death, Hemorrhagic Shock and Cold Ischemia.A number of 50 rats will divided into 5 groups: Control (n=10); Hemorrhagic Shock (n=10); Brain Death (n=10); Circulatory Death (n=10); Cold Ischemia (n=10); Hemodynamic parameters, lung function, respiratory mechanic parameters, histopathologic analysis and inflammation (TNF-±, IL-1², IL-6, IL-10, ICAM, VCAM, NF8B) will be evaluated.
