Abstract

The ongoing technological transition in the sugarcane hydro-agricultural business, Pontal do Paranapanema, as part of the productive restructuring of capital, is materialized through intense mechanization of cutting and planting and based on the chemical-dependent model. Disruptions in workers' health, collective, occupational accidents, occupational diseases, and environmental damage, also affect the political organization, or Rural Workers' Unions (STRs). The territorial reorganization triggered by the expansion of monoculture of sugar cane has amplified the social contradictions in a territory historically marked by land conflicts, which encourages us to establish correlations between the health-disease processes of the workers, the forms of resistance, the struggles carried out by STRs in the context of the class struggle in the Pontal do Paranapanema. Thus, through qualitative and quantitative methodological procedures, we intend to understand how the (political, economic and ideological) organization / representation and the health of the workers in the municipalities that make up our cut have been affected.
