Abstract

The textbook has kept a prominent position as a disseminator of knowledge and teachers often use it as the main guide for their lesson plans. The main objective of the research is to analyze how the textbooks of elementary school and high school chemistry construct concepts related to redox processes in order to infer how they relate to the alternative conceptions of students reported in the literature. Thus, it is intended to describe and analyze the evolution of the oxidation content in Brazilian Basic Education textbooks currently evaluated by the government program - PNLD. This is a qualitative research that uses content analysis from pre-existing categories in the literature. At the end of the research it is sought to know how the content evolution of redox process occurs in textbooks, and how it influences students' alternative conceptions. (AU)
